Freeman & Harter Custom Homes, based in Warsaw, Indiana is locally owned and operated by Rich Freeman and Brett Harter. Growing up and living in Kosciusko County, Rich and Brett are truly a home town team.

They have literally been around the building industry in Warsaw and Kosciusko County for over 3 decades. Freeman & Harter have seen the economic swings, how this affects building locally, and they understand how to effectively manage the business during difficult economic times.

Owner involvement in business operations is invaluable. Residents of Warsaw and Kosciusko County expect personal service. Freeman & Harter deliver. Friends since first grade, Rich and Brett have been working as a team in one form or another most of their lives. That spirit of teamwork enables them to provide a personalized building experience and an exceptional quality home. Rich's main roles include project design, estimating, and project management, while Brett's focus is primarily hands-on project involvement and project management.

Freeman & Harter Custom Homes offers exceptional results with a personal touch. You can be assured that an owner is overseeing each step of your project – and you can always bring your ideas and questions directly to Rich or Brett. In addition to project oversight, Brett Harter also takes a hands-on approach throughout the project.  
 
Leveraging Technology and Small Business Stability

With Freeman & Harter, small business does not equate to small ability.  Just as Brett’s trim carpentry skills are paramount to the quality of the home, Rich employs his computer skills to leverage their technology giving them the capabilities of much larger companies.  This allows them to operate with much less staff and overhead.  This is the foundation for their stability in challenging economic times and it also results in attractive pricing and personal service for their owners.

Designs are completed using the latest in CAD technology.  Many other software tools are utilized, including an application developed in-house by Rich Freeman. 

 
Energy Star Efficiency and Building Green

Freeman & Harter Custom Homes have made a commitment to the EPA to build 100% of their homes to Energy Star standards. 

Indiana’s requirements for energy efficiency [based on the 1998 energy code] are still significantly less stringent than the vast majority of states in our country.   Energy Star Requirements specify homes test at least 15% more efficient than the 2004 energy code.  Freeman & Harter’s homes have tested well above Energy Star requirements.  In fact, they are accustomed to receiving the highest rating available [5 Star Plus] from the EPA’s Energy Star program.

Brett and Rich have also made the commitment to educate themselves on green building principles.  Green building is more than just energy efficiency.  Green building focuses on resource conservation and environmental protection, as well as pollutants and indoor air quality.
